Biography

Maya Ali was born in Lahore on July 27, 1989. She’s known by her stage name but her real name is Maryam Tanveer Ali. She is the youngest among five siblings. She started her career as a journalist in a newspaper then VJ in Saama TV as a video jockey. In 2012, she gave her drama debut in the drama Durr-e-Shehwar. Maya’s father opposed her working in the entertainment industry, which harmed their relationship for six years before his passing in 2016.

She did her schooling at Lahore Grammar School and later enrolled at Kinnaird College for Women to study English literature. Maya Ali has said that her stay at Kinnaird College helped her discover a love for acting. Later, she earned a master’s degree in mass communication from “Queen Mary College.”

In 2012, Maya Ali make her acting debut in the drama serial “Durr-e-Shehwar.” in which she played the lead role.
